My website transitions

I have 2 websites I made last year:

The first I'm auctioning off on eBay (see post below for listing). There are no bids yet Frown. Someone told me they would give me $300 for it if it doesn't sell on eBay. I'm sure I'll get at least one bid -- I hope I get 2 and that it ends up at least at $300.

The second site I was going to just shut down. I've made $50 or so in the past month with it, but it was just consuming so much of my heart that I decided to shut it down. I put up a large red "discontinued until further notice" sign on the top of every page. That same night I had 2 more requests. I thought maybe I should give it another chance.

I wrote a press release about the site yesterday which will be released tomorrow. I'll see how the press release does and if it generates some more revenue. I paid $40 for the press release distribution, so I hope I'm not just back to my old ways.

    Where is the PR coming from on desktop-plugins.com site? Will the links providing the PR remain up after the site is sold?

    I probably shouldn't be saying this since I may be interested in the site, but since you are here on our site - why do you have the auction starting at $30 if you've already been offered $300? If only one person bids, your out $270. Was it a miss entry? I think you want to raise the opening bid to $300 before someone bids on it...

    I started the bidding low to encourage bidding. I wasn't offered $300 until after the eBay auction started. The Page Rank is coming from a handful of high profile blogs and websites which have featured the site. I think google may have begun hiding backlinks (to thwart SEO efforts perhaps)?, because none of the sites come up when you do a backlink check. I've included a link to the stats in my eBay auction. At the bottom, you can see some referral pages listed. Those are some of the pages with a link to my site.

    There are no links I'm in control of which will disappear after the site is sold.
