Catching the Vision -- stop spending money

March 10th, 2006 at 12:05 pm

I really think I'm catching the vision about not spending and instead saving & paying off debt. I actually chose not to get fast-food type of things a few times this week and instead save the money. I cancelled some unneeded $14.95 monthly charge and felt GREAT -- like I'm actually making an extra $14.95 every month now!

I was going to use the $300 I made on eBay to buy a piano keyboard that I've always wanted to learn, but instead I am realizing that the purpose of extra money now is to pay off debt. Then later I can buy a few things for myself.

I know there will be many more decision ahead, but it is encouraging to see real progress in my financial decisions.

This is a HOT post. Reread it when you want to spend: it is so succinct and so on target. Right on.

One thing about saving money....it's a good idea to reward yourself too. If you want to learn to play a keyboard, look into the Sharper Image catalog and find their portable keyboard for $50-$60. Look for the one that has gotten great reviews on the sound quality or go into the store if you can to try it out. If you really want to be decadent find some online codes for a discount!

I followed here from LA Money Guy. lrjohnson is right, this is a HOT post. Good for you! Being frugal is a way of life and those small choices you make add up to more money in your pocket and faster debt relief. Good for you!

This is a perfect post. Stopping spending money is money in your pocket. We all spend too much money - most of what we need has already been bought by someone else - so trade for it. You might want to think about trading something you already have, that you don't use anymore, for that keyboard (that someone else may not use anymore). That way, you'll get it for FREE. - http://www.stopspendingmoney.com is another good source for ideas. Best of luck to you to keep your money.

Good job! I start to do that and then I end up getting back on the fast food bandwagon. I end up making myself believe "I need it" because I am "too busy". Hopefully I can stay off the fast food.
